Stories are a wonderful way to get past your head and right to your heart. If you can connect each of the sections on My Intents with a story, it will really boost your awareness.
Start with stories that have happened to you or people you know. You can also use stories from books you’ve read, television shows, movies or anywhere else. You can even write your own stories!
Make sure to capture what these stories taught you that you want to remember in the future.
Let’s be honest here, if you had ALL the skills required to attain your goals you would have most likely achieved them, or you’d be closer.
So, which specific skills do you need to develop in order to meet your goals and to become the person you want to be?
You may already have some idea of these gaps, because you’ve probably been frustrated in the past when you realized they were holding you back.
Today, picture someone who has done what you want to do, or who embodies the characteristics you want to express, and notice what skills they’re using.
Then be honest with yourself and tally the list of skills you need to develop.
An affirmation is a positive statement that reinforces a change you are in the midst of making. For example, if you’re working on being more organized in the kitchen (so that you can cook those Italian recipes!), you might say, “My kitchen is free of clutter and I can easily find the tools and ingredients that I’m looking for.”
More general affirmations work as well, such as:
* I am perfect as I am.
* Money comes easily to me.
* I radiate good health and vitality.
* Everything in my life is working towards my ultimate good.
* I have the strength and courage I need to deal with any situation.
An affirmation is most effective when it’s written in the present tense, as if the change has already happened.
Imagine that you have already achieved your goal, and create personal affirmation statements that reflect your desired state.
These powerful statements will gradually sink into your subconscious mind and move you toward achieving your goals.
Have you ever noticed that you slip into routines that work against you? Or, can you think of a time when you got into a really positive pattern and it was like a magic formula – while it lasted?
Today, you will make a note of both your negative and positive patterns. Then, set some action steps for how you will replace a negative pattern with a positive one, or reinforce a positive one so that you stick with it.
The rituals that we develop ultimately drive our lives. So, if your ritual is to watch three hours of TV before you go sleep, you are becoming a different person than if it was to read inspiring books.
In the end, you are the patterns and rituals you have developed. The good news is that the choice is yours. So, let’s replace those negative patterns to ensure your future success.
* Pump up your energy
* Make you smile every time
* Reconnect you with your vision
* Relax you when you’re stressed
* Motivate you to keep working towards your goals
For some people it’s exercise, for others it’s travel. Some people like to make music, others prefer to sit back and watch a concert. Some people like group sports, and others choose a quiet hobby like reading or photography.
These things are like daily boosts that will keep you going. It might be challenging for you to take time for yourself, but that’s exactly what you need to do if you want to stay on track.
Go ahead and make your list, and then be sure that you’re participating in these motivating activities consistently! And, if your inspiration is getting low, double your dose!
