Where have all the Heroes gone?
I just happen to be a member of some very innovative and open-thinking online networks, who have open forums for like-minded people to discuss topics such as general well-being, maintaining good health, spirituality, making a positive difference … and other similar focus points. In one of the forums this week there was a question posed which caught my attention, so I decided to comment in a very different way to the others who had already done so.
The question was this: Where have all the heroes gone?
There were a collection of extremely wise, sincere, and experiential responses made by this group of very caring individuals… and they all covered the topic generously. I decided that I wished to acknowledge one very special hero in my life, so I wrote a little blurb which applies to most of us. It is specially written for each and everyone of you, so please consider as you read it, that it is all about the hero within you.
“I’d like to thank the hero within me for getting me this far in life; for never giving up on me; for relentlessly standing up to the many challenges; for showing me to prefer love over anger and resentment; for helping me to overcome many fears; for giving me guidance even when it seemed impossible to get through to me; for showing incredible faith in me, even when success seemed completely impossible; for sticking by me through good times and bad; for showing me how to allow life to unfold patiently, just as it should; and most of all for never giving up on me even when the ’saboteur within’ was desperately trying to take control! Yes, I’d like to thank and acknowledge that inner courage and persistence which has stood by me, even when I felt like giving up!”
To that person in the mirror “I thank you”!
Yes, we all have other people to thank, and other influences in our lives to be grateful for, but it is time that we all acknowledge ourselves for getting us to where we are right now!
I’m glad that I did this for me, and I can only hope that it feels good for you to acknowledge you!
